Thrive is a gluten-free, low carbohydrate dog food designed to cater to dogs of all life stages including puppies, pregnant and nursing dogs and those who need gluten-free dog food but with a little grain, to help maintain a healthy body weight.

Thrive is very minimalist, nourishing diet which is also recommended for dogs with sensitivities: It contains NO fruits, potatoes or flax. A great BARF mixer, you can add your own protein, raw meat, etc. to round out your pup's meal, if you choose; however, it's fully balanced just as it is, so you can prepare your pup's meal just using Thrive, too.

Re-sealable pouch. 4 pound pouch makes about 17 pounds of dog food and 10 pound pouch makes about 43 pounds of dog food.

All-natural ingredients: Hormone-free Chicken, Organic Quinoa, Sweet Potatoes, Spinach, Parsley, Organic Kelp, Rosemary, Vitamins and Minerals.

Life Stage: All life stages; puppies, pregnancy, lactation, active adult dogs & healthy seniors.

Never heard of Quinoa? Pronounced Keen-Wah, it's a treasured ancient grain from Bolivia in South America. Our Quinoa is fair-trade, sustainably grown and 100% certified organic. Naturally gluten-free, Quinoa is a valuable source of complete protein. It contains every single amino acid and is especially well-endowed with the amino acid lysine, which is essential for tissue growth and repair. In addition to protein, quinoa features a host of other health-building nutrients. Thrive is naturally low-carb, with just 37% carbohydrates. Low carb diets are often indicated as part of a holistic approach to cancer recovery.

Guaranteed 100% human-food-grade because The Honest Kitchen dog food is not produced in a pet food plant. It is made in an FDA approved, human-food-producing facility in Southern California, that makes the very same foods you eat.

The Honest Kitchen foods contain absolutely no by-products, added salt or sugar, chemical preservatives, artificial colors or flavors and NO beet pulp, rice, wheat, corn, or soy. These are common allergens for dogs and can cause dry, itchy skin, hair loss or dullness, lack of energy, chronic ear problems and chewing at the feet.

What is the benefit of a dehydrated dog food? Dehydration, or drying, is an ancient and gentle method of food preservation. Food dehydration works by removing only the water. Almost all other nutrients remain–and become highly concentrated. Dehydrated foods are highly nutritious, easy to prepare and store, and light-weight to ship.

The fruits and vegetables are harvested at the peak of their ripeness, cleaned and trimmed, then gently dried below 104 degrees so they are still considered raw after dehydration is complete. The meat and egg ingredients are dehydrated at a high enough temperature to kill any pathogenic bacteria that may be present, and the required temperature for this is above 120 degrees F. This makes them safe for human consumption–a requirement for entry into the human food facility where The Honest Kitchen products are made.

Feeding Directions: Each dry-measured cup should be mixed with 1 to 1.5 cups of warm water, and will yield about 1 pound of fresh food. The fresh food consistency will resemble oatmeal or stew. Can be fed as a stand-alone diet. Hydrate with fresh, warm water. After hydration, a process that takes just 5 to 10 minutes, these foods should be consumed right away. Any leftover food should be treated like fresh food, and refrigerated up to 48 hours or discarded. We suggest adding about half a cup of home-prepared ingredients for each dry-measured cup of food, once the dog food is hydrated.

The Calcium: phosphorous ratio in The Honest Kitchen foods is balanced with the vitamin premix, containing human grade tri-calcium phosphate, and is set at a ratio that allows for additional meat and raw bones to be mixed in without throwing the ratio outside its optimal limits. As a general guideline, about 1/2 cup of meat or RAW meaty bones (such as chicken backs/ or necks) is recommended to be added to 1 cup of dry-measured Honest Kitchen diet. NEVER FEED COOKED BONE!!

Dehydrated foods should be stored in a cool, dry place. The Honest Kitchen products have a shelf life of twelve months or more, depending upon ambient temperature and humidity. The date of manufacture is printed on all packages. The containers should be closed tightly between meals.
